Good/Bad Website Smackdown

The two websites that I chose to compare for the good/bad website smackdown are two different hotel websites abroad.  The good website is Trendy Hostel in Paris.  The bad website is Exmouth View Hotel in the UK.  The reason that I decided to choose these two websites is because I have been looking into hostels and hotels the past couple of weeks for my summer trip to Europe.  I have come across many websites for hotels and these are two great examples that I came across.

The Trendy Hostel shows characteristics of a good website because the web page is easy to navigate, clear to understand and has good organizational menus, uses great graphics and slideshow animation, and also has all of the pertinent information for any traveler to access easily.

The Exmouth View Hotel website is clearly out of date by the use of layout and readability of the text on the page is hard to see.  The pictures are not that great of quality and could be better.  The overall layout is chaotic and has a lot going on in the home page.  They also have some spelling errors.

    Hello Cara,
    I too enjoy the simplicity and a clear presentation of what is offered, when using a website. The usage of pictures and a clear representation of what is being provided by Trendyhostel, makes visiting the site enjoyable and portrays the hotel as professional. Unlike Trendyhostel, the Exmouth View Hotel’s website appears to be forgotten and outdated. It is a bad example of a site! After viewing the website, I am not sure if I would stay at Exmouth View Hotel.

    Hey Cara! I agree with you that Trendy Hostel has a very pleasing aesthetic and seems very easy to use. It has everything all in one location which is perfect for people traveling and looking into these different places to stay! I like that you are using this site for possibly your own travel in the future! Awesome explanation:)

    I agree the Trendy Hostel is clearly the better website. I felt their website conveyed a homey, trustworthy and enjoyable experience for someone that would be traveling far away from home. The bad website was very generic, and I personally would not feel comfortable when staying there. Great job on your presentation!

    Hi,
    I agree with the others that I think that you chose a great topic as you are looking into websites for yourself! Just scrolling through Exmouth View Hotel's website, I noticed many spelling errors as well. I do like the background color they chose but I think their font makes it tough to read certain things as well. I think you chose a website that showcases all of the characteristics that make up a great website!

    I really like the two websites you have chosen for your smackdown. You mentioned that Trendy Hostel has all the information that a traveller needs. Since my family and I usually go on a vacation during summer, I would definitely like to try this website out because we usually book our hotels online. Your presentation was very well done.

    Hey there,
    These two websites are a perfect example for this smackdown. It is crazy to think that a hotel website would not be up to date. If I was interested in that hotel and I visited their website, I would immediately change my mind. The presentation of the website is so crucial because people will think that the rooms are bad as well.
