In chapter six of the Connected Educator, there is in depth analysis of this three-pronged approach. A personal learning network is used for a one’s personal gain and should reflect your goals and experiences. Using multiple tools such as blogs, note-taking applications, photo sharing websites, twitter, etc. can help to aid in the growth of a personal learning network. It is important to remember that these tools each bring a different aspect to the continued growth of network. Being an engaging member of these networks through continued conversations in an ethical way will help to expand the possibilities of learning. In a career path such as event planning, building a personal learning network would be beneficial in many areas, considering that...
Hello Cara,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point of “mixing business with pleasure” as everything we post can affect us on the business end of life. I too think issuing a sincere apology can help with rectifying problems, I imagine she is hoping that the negative publicity will “blow over.”
Cara,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your presentation and I agree that apologizing for your words and actions can really help set foot in the right direction. Anything we post can affect our personal or business life so we should always be thinking ahead!
Cara,
ReplyDeleteI like how you explained how Olivia should have been using her outlet to encourage her viewers. She had business deals with many big brands, and she could have used her YouTube channel to take about being an entrepreneur.
Hi Cara, I liked that you pointed out that even though social media is for personal use, employers can still look you up and see your profile. I also agree that Olivia Jade Giannulli should not have said that she does not care about going to class, since thousands of people were fighting for that spot at the university. I agree that she should not be as transparent on social media with the amount of followers that she has.
ReplyDeleteCara,
ReplyDeleteI like how you started off the video with the categories for social media etiquette. It is very important to be self aware, know your audience, and use safety precautions. This controversy with these two celebrities is still very fresh and I'm still surprised that it happened!
Cara, I liked your three categories of what social media etiquette is, being self-aware, know your audience, and use safety precautions. I think the Olivia Jade Giannulli scandal was very relevant and recent so you did a great presentation for this project. Her youtube content just drove the controversy home with this.
ReplyDeleteHello Cara, you are right that people should know their audiences. People sometimes underestimate the influences of posting on social media. We should always remind ourselves that once you post online, everybody around the world can see it (including the boss, clients, family members, etc.). Therefore, always think twice before making decisions.
ReplyDeleteHi Cara!
ReplyDeleteThis was so recent and a perfect example of poor social media etiquette! I think Olivia was not smart in this situation, and she should have people looking out for her telling her there are things you shouldn't post online. She lost lots of things because of her college scandal for good reasons. There are people who work hard to get into college and she did not. If you want to be a influencer, you should probably not say or do negative things online.
It is important to remember that what you post is forever and this is a prime example. As Olivia tries to mitigate the college scam situation, this video only makes things worse for her. I don't think the apology she came out with was sincere since she claims that she does not remember what she said exactly meanwhile it is all on video. When one makes a mistake on social media, it is important that they own up to in entirely and move on with their lives.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI liked how detailed your presentation was! I also love that you chose a topic that is super recent! I do agree with others that the video she posted doesn't help her case with the college admissions scandal. I do think that you gave a valid point about not mixing business with personal stuff. That is very true in all senses as these two parts of your life shouldn't cross. Great Work!
Olivia stated that her parents "ruined her life". I don't believe she's as innocent to the circumstance as she's claiming. I've only seen a few of her videos but I agree with everyone, business and personal should not cross. She lost major business deals due to the scandal and I can understand the company stance. She is a huge influencer with a big scandal based on dishonesty. Not a particular image they would want associated with their companies.
ReplyDeleteI agree that apologies can go a long way. Sometimes it may be hard to see if the apology is sincere or not, however in my opinion I think issues can be resolved or forgiven much more easily when people take responsibility for their action.
ReplyDeleteHi! I love your comment about an apology really going a long way! The difference is that some apologies can seem more forced than others I feel like. There has to be a certain amount of time and remorse for people to really believe you, especially if you are in the public eye!
ReplyDeleteCara, Great presentation and I'm happy you decided to use something that is currently in the news! The projects that are aligned with current problems are the ones I have enjoyed the most because it gives me more insight into news that is happening now.
ReplyDeleteHey Cara,
ReplyDeleteThis is the most recent example of what this project had to be about. This scandal really makes you think about how many times this sort of thing has happened and how often it happens. There are probably a ton of rich people who's kids are in colleges they do not deserve to be in right now.
Hi Cara,
ReplyDeleteThis is a very big scandal roaming around the internet right now and I definitely think you hit the head on the nail. It was ironic because it was not Olivia being afraid of having her parents seeing her content, but it was actually her mom who was the deceitful one. Nonetheless, Olivia was still on board and because of it she lost her admissions and sephora deal.
Hey Cara!
ReplyDeleteGreat presentation, I thought you explained it very well. I agree when you mentioned that apologizing makes a huge difference for making a difference. When someone makes a mistake on social media, it is there forever. Yes, it can be deleted, however once on the internet it is always there. I think that people, especially celebs need to be aware of this.
Hi Cara
ReplyDeleteI really liked your presentation. You have explained it very well. The best part about your presentation is that you chose to present on Olivia and her scandal is so recent. Many people look up to her and the things she says or the things she does will have a impact on those who look up to her. She's not only ruining her life with her scandal but she's also having a negative impact on those people.
Hi Cara,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you used Prezi to present. It's pretty neat! You defined social media etiquette well and used a good example for it. Olivia never wanted to attend college and her parents wanted her to be a part of it. She faked her admission to USC and received backlash for it. She not being truthful to her fans for a long time hurt her image, since trust is very important between influencer to audience. Great job and thanks for sharing it!
